Starting and finishing in the lovely village of Hurst Green at the pub WebLancashire. 10 km / 6 miles. (click to enlarge) A short trail passing Stonyhurst College where J. R. R. Tolkien stayed frequently in a guest house in the grounds and where he spent time writing the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The route includes a river section coincident with the Ribble Way so may be an interesting excursion for walkers on it.
